Joy Sorman (English)
Born in Paris in 1973, Joy Sorman gives a sensitive and strong overview on our contemporary world. As a politically committed novelist, she publishes her first book in 2005, entitled Boys, Boys, Boys, regarded as "a manifesto for a manly feminism". She does not hesitate to explore further social topics, to sit in a train station to write Paris, Gare du Nord (Gallimard, 2011), to immerse herself in the mental institution environment for À la folie (Flamarion, 2021) or to listen to NTM band on repeat for her book Du Bruit (Gallimard, 2009).
ITINERARY
- 1997 : She passed the philosophy CAPES exam, before choosing to forgo teaching.
- 2005 : Her first book is released, entitled Boys, Boys, Boys, and wins that same year the Prix de Flore.
- 2013 : Her novelComme une bête receives the Prix François Mauriac of the Académie Française.
- 2013 : She his named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature).
- 2014 : Her book La Peau de l'ours is selected for the Prix Goncourt.
CURRENT EVENTS
- Her most recent book,À la folie, is released in February 2021, published by Éditions Flammarion.
- She participates in the filming of the documentary short-movie « Grand Paris des écrivains » project launched by the Libération paper in 2020.
