Emmanuel  Hoog

Former pupil of the Ecole Nationale for future civil servants, Emmanuel Hoog began his carrer at the Ministry of Culture and Communication. In 1992 he became director of the Théâtre de l’Odéon, and, in 1997, assistant director of the prestigious Piccolo Teatro in Milan. He was then appointed technical advisor for culture, audiovisual services and the media at the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry. In 2001, President Chirac appointed his as President Director-General of the National Audiovisual Institute (INA). As part of its mission to preserve national heritage, INA conserves, digitalises and restores archives from French radio and television. Today, it has put a selection of its video and sound archives on-line (ina.fr). Hoog has published Mémoire année zéro with Seuil.
