Éric Fottorino

Born in Nice in 1960, Éric Fottorino is a writer and journalist. He was a reporter before becoming chief editor and director of publication with Le Monde. In January 2008, he was nominated President of La Vie – Le Monde. Alongside his work as a journalist, Éric Fottorino has published over twenty books since 1988, notably Rochelle (Fayard, 1991 – Gallimard, 2005) in which he tackles the question of identity in an autobiographical style. He has been awarded numerous literary prizes, namely the prix Mauriac from the Académie française for Caresse de rouge (Gallimard , 2004), the prix des librairies, the prix du roman form France Télévisions for Korsakov (Gallimard , 2004) and the prix Fémina for Baisers de cinéma (Gallimard, 2007). In his latest book, L’homme qui m’aimait tout bas (Gallimard, 2009), the author explores the new autobiographical genre, providing us with an intimate and moving account of the death of his adoptive father in La Rochelle.
