Under the presidence of Gérard Collomb, Senator-Mayor of Lyon, Georges Képénékian, adjoint à la culture de la Ville de Lyon, presents a medal to Orhan Pamuk on behalf of the city of Lyon.
The novelist Orhan Pamuk, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006. He is the storyteller of a contemporary Turkey, pulled between East and West, but he focuses his attentions above all on one town, Istanbul. He depicts this town in a lively and captivating way, far removed from Western clichés and exotic fantasies.
His work has been translated into over fifty languages and he has been awarded a number of literary prizes, notably the prix France-Culture in 1995 and the Médicis étranger for Neige (Gallimard) in 2005
D’autres couleurs (Gallimard, 2009) is a compilation of 76 essays, speeches and tales. It paints an extraordinary picture of Orhan Pamuk, allowing the reader to follow the intellectual and human journey of the great author. .
