The novelist Orhan Pamuk, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006. He is the storyteller of a contemporary Turkey, pulled between East and West, but he focuses his attentions above all on one town, Istanbul. He depicts this town in a lively and captivating way, far removed from Western clichés and exotic fantasies. 

His work has been translated into over fifty languages and he has been awarded a number of literary prizes, notably the prix France-Culture in 1995 and the Médicis étranger for Neige (Gallimard) in 2005.

D’autres couleurs (Gallimard, 2009) is a compilation of 76 essays, speeches and tales. It paints an extraordinary picture of Orhan Pamuk, allowing the reader to follow the intellectual and human journey of the great author.

Under the presidence of Gérard Collomb, Senator-Mayor of Lyon, Georges Képénékian, adjoint à la culture de la Ville de Lyon, presents a medal to Orhan Pamuk on behalf of the city of Lyon at 6pm at the Villa Gillet.

Ceremony open to the public. Entry free. Reservation essential.
